Blu-ray Resource center

Samsung has opened up a resource center for All Information Blu-ray related! If you ever needed to find out anything about Blu-ray, then that is the place to go. They have a comprehensive FAQ section, as well as an Owners Center to provide you with TONS of information. I found out for one thing that the Samsung BD-P1200 and higher models of Blu-ray players will allow you to upgrade the firmware by plugging in an Ethernet cable into the back of it, and inserting a disc that contains the new firmware, which you can obtain by calling 1-800-SAMSUNG.

See what I mean? And the site is chocked full of useful information like that. They also have a product section and feature certain Blu-ray players (No surprise they are all Samsung models)

Movie Review: Wanted

Wanted was great. The acting was superb. The main character was really made out to be the ‘losinest of all losers’ before his powers were manifested. He played the before and after roles very well.

The action in this movie will not disappoint, but some scenes did have that crazy ‘Bourn Supremacy / Ultimatum’ dizzy ass camera work. The shooting, and the driving were really fun to watch, and there weren’t a whole lotta parts in this movie that were slow and or boring enough for you to take a quick bathroom break at the theater hahaha.

Then ending was noble, but a little anti-climactic at the same time. It made sense though, so I won’t complain about it.

I would highly recommend this movie as one of the top 5 assassin movies out there. Plus Angelina Jolie is in it. Go to the movies and watch this!

Movie Review: WALL•E

This is by far the best Pixar movie to date! I can’t say enough good things about this movie. Pixar did everything right. There was just about no real dialogue for the first part of the movie, but that didn’t matter. You still got to know the main character, and could follow what was happening very easily. The little robot had a wide range of expressions that went a tiny little over the top at times, but it wasn’t a big deal at all.

The movie touched on a very current social issue going on, especially here in the US: obesity. The movie warns that if we continue on the trend of making our lives easier, all the while not exercising or eating right (and allowing corporations to take over most aspects of our lives) that the consequences would be pretty harsh.

Pixar managed to convey these messages in a way that was most entertaining, and since it was a few generations out, gave the impression that we still have the time to make things right. Id give this movie a 5 out of 5, and can’t wait to buy it on Blu-ray.

Movie Review: The Happening

I really got excited after hearing that M. Night Shamalan was coming out with his first R rated movie. Yep, even after what he did to me after to us with Lady in the Water, and The Village. Ever since The Sixth Sense, I have had high hopes for his films, and continue to want to believe that he will again rise to that level. I loved Signs and Unbreakable. I love the fact that he leaves quite a bit to the imagination, and let’s the viewer come to his or her own conclusions.

Moving on to ‘The Happening’ . . . the movie was bad. I have never seen Mark Wahlberg act so poorly. And believe you me; I’m a huge Mark Wahlberg fan. I was not only let down by the sub par acting (by just about everyone in the film), but also the execution of the story. I don’t want to give anything away, so I won’t get into much detail here, but you just can’t outrun the wind.

He did manage to keep everything as realistic as possible, and touched on a nerve that is prevalent in today’s society namely the ecology. It did seem to emphasize the destructive nature of man, and how nature could potentially fight back. I don’t think that something like that is all too far fetched, but I don’t think it would spread nearly as fast or be as severe.

Walmart Blu-ray $100 Gift-card Deal June 8 - 14

This just in!

According to Reuters, Walmart will be giving out a $100 gift card, to everyone who purchases a Blu-ray player from them between June 8th and June 14th.

This is part of a new aggressive sales strategy to promote the sales of Blu-ray movies, which Walmart hopes to provide, with select titles starting at $15! I can't wait to head there this weekend and see what I can pick up. Supposedly "3:10 to Yuma", "300", and "Shooter" will be available for $15 on June 8th, so I will try to get all 3. I’m sure that those won’t be the only movies available that cheap.

Now that Walmart is taking this aggressive stance with Blu-ray technology, it will only be a matter of time before almost everyone has one. My biggest question is: "Does this deal go for the PS3 as well???" If so, both Sony and Walmart will see a sharp increase in quarterly sales. With Walmart taking on selling Blu-ray movies will definitely boost the sales. Since money talks, hopefully that means that some older titles will be released sooner. Personally I can’t wait until the Matrix gets released on Blu-ray.

Review: Doomsday - Big Fi, little Sci

Neil Marshall's Doomsday started out pretty good. I was interested in the characters (All I can say is that eye is freaky), and story seemed pretty good. That's when it all went wrong. I think that this is the first outbreak style movie that left me completely uninterested halfway through. They tied in a bunch of semi futuristic ideas that didn't get sown together in a way that made sense.

At that point the comedy began. Wait . . hold on a sec, comedy? That threw me off, but would have been enjoyable had they knew when to stop. The highway chase scene seemed to drag on forever, and I lost interest altogether.

The end was completely anti climactic even thought the bad guy ended up being found out and brought to justice . . kinda. Me, I'm more of a vengeance guy. I don't just want the bad guy brought to justice, I want him punished and wishing that he had never even considered going down that dark path.

I give this movie a 2 out of 5.
